Asher Keddie’s new series, Fake, is based on the true story of journalist Stephanie Woods and her relationship with a serial scammer. Since premiering on Paramount+ this month, the Australian series is already getting people talking (and become more cautious about their online dating profiles).

Fake is based on a true story. The series is inspired by a memoir of the same name, written by Stephanie Wood. Wood’s book was released in 2019 and tells the story of a man, a scammer, who seduced and manipulated women. The cover of the book reads: “A startling true story of love in a world of liars, cheats, narcissists, fantasists and phonies.”
